Focus and scope

Sinéctica is a multidisciplinary, continuously published academic journal that publishes research on education as a phenomenon embedded in diverse sociocultural contexts, examined through a variety of theoretical frameworks and methodological approaches.

The journal welcomes contributions that explore key educational issues within three broad domains:

Institutional

  • Educational policies
  • Emerging methodologies in educational research
  • Curriculum planning and evaluation
  • Pedagogical innovation
  • Educational models
  • Educational leadership and management
  • Teacher education
  • Educational technologies

Social

  • Education, labor, and poverty
  • Community perspectives on education
  • Education and social movements
  • Migration and education

Cultural

  • Intercultural education
  • Formal and non-formal education
  • Linguistics in educational contexts
  • Inclusion and diversity in education
  • Education and social coexistence

Sinéctica has an international scope and accepts manuscripts in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review process.

 

Editorial Policy

Please note that Sinéctica does not consider:

  • Opinion pieces or informal essays
  • Manuscripts without theoretical or conceptual grounding
  • Narratives, anecdotes, or institutional/personal accounts not derived from research
  • Pedagogical proposals lacking empirical evidence
  • Submissions with serious writing issues or that fall outside the journal’s thematic scope

Each author may submit only one manuscript per year for peer review. The maximum number of authors per submission is three. Exceptions (four or more authors) are permitted only when justified by the complexity of the research.

 

Evaluation Criteria

Manuscripts submitted to Sinéctica are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Quality: Contributions must advance understanding of the educational phenomena studied and be supported by a sound methodological design and solid theoretical-conceptual framework.
  • Originality: Submissions must be unpublished, not under review elsewhere, and offer new knowledge or significant findings.
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope and focus
  • Timeliness: Preference is given to manuscripts addressing current educational issues and debates.
