Sections

Sinéctica includes the following permanent sections:

  • Thematic Section

Linked to each call for papers, this section receives research articles and theoretical contributions (essays and systematic reviews) related to a specific theme, within a defined submission period.

  • Open Section

This section accepts research articles and theoretical contributions (essays and systematic reviews) throughout the year, regardless of the current theme.

  • Book Reviews

Academic reviews are received year-round.

Research Articles

Manuscripts reporting findings from empirical research projects that contribute to a deeper understanding of educational phenomena. These articles must demonstrate coherence between the theoretical-conceptual framework and the methodology applied. Required components:

  • Introduction, including context and problem statement
  • Theoretical and conceptual framework
  • Methodological framework, detailing approaches, methods, techniques, and instruments used
  • Findings and discussion, including the author’s contributions and theoretical support for empirical data
  • Conclusions, with implications for educational practice, reflecting a high level of synthesis and abstraction—not a repetition of results
  • References

Theoretical Articles

Essays or systematic reviews that address educational issues from a critical and well-grounded perspective. These manuscripts are not necessarily based on empirical research but must present coherent argumentation and reflective insight. They must include:

  • Introduction, outlining real-world and conceptual problems that justify the study
  • Theoretical discussions, when not developed in a separate section
  • Development of the argument, presenting the author’s perspective and contributions
  • Conclusions, articulating a final reflection or proposition with high conceptual synthesis

Book Reviews

Book reviews are expository-argumentative texts that present the essential content of an academic work while offering a critical assessment of the material reviewed. Reviews are characterized by their concise nature, analytical exposition, and well-founded evaluation. Reviews must include:

  • A brief title that reflects the reviewer’s assessment of the work. The title should not be limited to reproducing the book’s title nor be simply labeled as “review.”
  • The full bibliographic reference of the book, including title, edition, author(s), place of publication, publisher, year, and ISBN.
  • A structured text with introduction, development, and conclusion, incorporating evaluative commentary.
  • A length of 3 to 5 pages.
