This study examines the place of mental health care within Mexico’s 2022 Curriculum for Preschool, Primary, and Secondary Education, considering its curricular, cross-cutting, and institutional formulation and integration, the actors involved, as well as its scope and limitations. Through a qualitative documentary analysis structured around five dimensions, selected excerpts from the Curriculum were examined in terms of their formulation, development, and articulation. The analysis draws on contributions from community mental health, the ethics and politics of care, the right of children and adolescents to participate, and the health- and well-being-promoting schools approach. The findings show that mental health care holds a recognizable place and is not confined to a clinical or individual perspective, as it is linked to holistic education, emotional life, respectful treatment, participation, and school-community relationships. However, its development is uneven: learning support, teacher training, continuity of care, and territorial networks show weaker articulation. The Curriculum incorporates mental health care into its normative and curricular framework; nevertheless, tensions persist between this recognition and the pedagogical, institutional, and community conditions required to sustain it.
