Las actuales condiciones de producción intelectual afectan la creatividad del trabajo académico y el cumplimiento de la función social e intelectual de los docentes e investigadores de la universidad. Se caracterizan por el incremento de la competencia entre pares; la hiperproductividad calculada en términos cuantitativos; la tensión entre individualización de la evaluación y promoción del trabajo grupal y en redes; la burocratización de las tareas de investigación; la labor a corto plazo y por proyectos específicos; la presión entre la hiperespecialización y los abordajes inter-, multi- y transdisciplinario; la búsqueda constante de subsidios a la investigación; y las presiones que genera la realización de estudios pertinentes.
