Educación a lo largo de la vida: un horizonte de sentido

Las políticas de educación a lo largo de la vida encuentran sus precedentes en las primeras conferencias de educación de adultos celebradas desde mitad del siglo pasado. En la actualidad, hemos transitado de las palabras a los hechos, y por eso las iniciativas al respecto ponen en el centro de las agendas educativas y sociales la consideración de los seres humanos como sujetos de aprendizaje permanente. Los beneficios sociales de esta clase de educación a los que se presta atención en este ensayo son beneficios a corto, medio y largo plazo de carácter principalmente no monetario. La importancia de la educación a lo largo de la vida va a ser creciente en sociedades de conocimiento y va a suponer un auténtico giro educativo y una exigencia para la transformación y mejora de nuestro mundo.
