POR MI RAZA HABLARÁ LA EDUCACIÓN
Abstract
La educación indígena es la más antigua en estas tierras. Las fuentes disponibles nos indican que la institución del tempo-escuela era común no sólo en los pueblos nahuas del Postclásico Tardío, sino en toda Mesoamérica. López Austin los describe como un lugar de servicio en el cual los hombres estaban obligados a cumplir en una etapa de su vida funciones en las actividades religiosas. Después de la conquista, en el año de 1600, el virrey de Zúñiga y Acevedo propuso unas “Ordenanzas de los Maestros del Nobilísimo Arte de Enseñar a leer, escribir y contar”. Las órdenes religiosas establecidas en la Nueva España fueron las encargadas de impartir educación a los naturales con el propósito fundamental de convertirlos a la religión católica.
