APRENDER A ENTREVISTAR
Abstract
Desde el título, este libro es un reto sociolingüístico. El verbo to ask en el idioma inglés, tiene una doble función, que en el nuestro se traduce como "pedir" y como "preguntar". Briggs nos insinúa en el título aquel dicho popular de la lengua castellana que reza "en el pedir está el dar", lo que para el caso de las ciencias sociales significa que según las preguntas que planteemos será el tipo de calidad de la información que recibamos, sin embargo, la ambigüedad del título deja lugar para una implicación más que es analizada en la obra: la información recibida será interpretada por el investigador únicamente desde el punto de vista de sus propios códigos, si no logra contextualizar las respuestas que le dan sus informantes, y lo que significan para ellos las preguntas planteadas.
