Abstract
La historia reciente de la educación da cuenta de una diversidad de cambios, mayores y menores, de forma y de fondo, en el sistema educativo mexicano.
Del sexenio 88-94 que acaba de terminar, por ejemplo, se pueden mencionar las siguientes iniciativas: el Programa Nacional de Modernización Educativa 1989- 1994; el Acuerdo Nacional para la Modernización de la Educación Básica; la aprobación de la Ley General de la Educación; los acuerdos derivados del TLC en la educación superior; la revisión de la Ley Federal de Profesiones y también la del estado de Jalisco; el establecimiento del Examen Profesional de Capacidades, el SUPERA; el incremento presupuestal al sector educativo (del 3 al 6% del PIB); la renovación de los libros de texto gratuitos.
