VECINOS ASIMÉTRICOS
Abstract
Para nadie es un secreto que los tres países que firmaron el Tratado de Libre Comercio de América del Norte tienen profundas desigualdades en muchos aspectos. Del total de bienes y servicios producidos en América del Norte, casi 90 por ciento son estadounidenses, siete por ciento canadienses y el resto mexicano. Los ingresos per cápita anuales de cada estadounidense fueron de 24,695 dólares en 1993, mientras que a cada nacido en Canadá le correspondieron 20,078 dólares estadounidenses ese mismo año y a los mexicanos nos tocaron sólo 4,180. Hay un canadiense por cada tres mexicanos y casi diez estadounidenses; mientras que en Canadá se mueren 7 niños por cada mil, en Estados Unidos 10 y en México casi 30.
