LA EDUCACIÓN POPULAR EN AMÉRICA LATINA
Abstract
En el actual contexto de modernización y de inserción económica a nivel mundial en el que vive América Latina, más que nunca la educación está siendo concebida en términos puramente eficientistas y economicistas. Desde esta perspectiva, la educación básica es considerada como indispensable para el logro de los objetivos del desarrollo y de la satisfacción de las necesidades sociales; pero de sobra son conocidas las serias limitantes que la educación formal tiene, aun considerando sus afanes modernizadores, no sólo para adaptar a los individuos a la economía, incrementar la capacidad productiva de la sociedad y elevar los niveles de bienestar, sino para satisfacer las necesidades educativas y para adecuar los contenidos y métodos a las diversas características socioeconómicas y culturales de nuestros pueblos.
