Educación básica rural en Iberoamérica
Abstract
Desde la década de los noventa, numerosos estudios han dado cuenta de los cambios sociales, económicos, demográficos, culturales y medioambientales en los territorios rurales de Iberoamérica impulsados por la consolidación de modelos de desarrollo neoliberales y los procesos de globalización económica, social, política y cultural que se viven a nivel mundial. La definición de “lo rural” debería considerar lo anterior. Los procesos migratorios de pobladores de áreas rurales hacia zonas urbanas nacionales o internacionales, incluso hacia otras regiones rurales, sumados a la diversidad de actividades económicas secundarias y terciarias que se realizan en estas zonas, nos obligan a romper los estereotipos que vinculan lo rural únicamente con actividades primarias de producción agrícola, ganadera, pesquera y forestal. Más que hablar de “lo rural” a partir de estereotipos, habría que hacerlo en plural, reconociendo la enorme diversidad de procesos socioeconómicos y culturales que existen en esos territorios.
