De PERFIL DE APRENDIZAGEM DE ALUNOS RECÉM-ADMITIDOS EM UMA UNIVERSIDADE PÚBLICA

Resumo

O presente estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar um perfil de entrada abrangente de uma geração de estudantes em uma universidade pública no México, incluindo seu nível de entrada em inglês, estratégias e estilos de aprendizagem, abordagens de aprendizagem e preferências de aprendizagem. O desenho da pesquisa foi não experimental, descritivo, transversal, com procedimento único de coleta de dados durante o período de ingresso (agosto de 2023) na universidade. Foram utilizadas quatro escalas de aprendizagem e dois testes de nivelamento. O estudo identificou os traços de aprendizagem predominantes da coorte que, em conjunto, retratam um perfil de aprendizagem da população consultada. Os resultados mostram uma preferência pelo uso de estratégias de aprendizagem cognitiva mais do que qualquer outro tipo. Em termos de estilos de aprendizagem, os resultados mostram que a maioria dos participantes são principalmente auditivos, mas alguns alunos são bi- e até tri-orientados. Em termos das suas preferências de aprendizagem, a maioria dos alunos identificou-se como analítica. No que diz respeito às abordagens de aprendizagem, a maioria dos estudantes normalmente emprega uma abordagem profunda, o que pode ser bastante inadequado porque depende mais de estratégias superficiais.

Óscar Manuel Narváez Trejo, University of Veracruz, Mexico

He is full-time professor at the School of Languages, University of Veracruz. He holds a Ph.D. from Kent University. He is interested in promoting teacher-based research to promote effective teacher education through technology enhanced teaching.

Cliserio Antonio Cruz Martínez, University of Veracruz, Mexico

He holds a PhD in Language Studies and Applied Linguistics from University of Veracruz (UV). He is a full-time professor at the School of Languages at UV. He is currently the Coordinator of the MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at UV.

Carolina Reyes Galindo, University of Veracruz, Mexico

She holds an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Veracruz. She has been a speaker in several national and international conferences and published articles and book chapters resulting from her research.
