Lifelong education and learning: Adults and higher-level education

Resumo

This article relates the adult education to higher education from the perspective of lifelong learning. Understanding that the struggle for the right to education is part of a movement that encompasses political, ethical, moral, social, and economic issues, the text aims to discuss the reasons for adults to enter and remain at the University. The essay is based on Alheit and Dausien (2006, 2007, 2013, 2015), Beltran (2013, 2015), and Lahire (1995, 1997, 2008) studies as well as biographical narratives from adult students at the Federal Universityin Paraiba, Brazil, obtained by interviewing them.
