Abstract

Concibo a la ciencia como una actividad inserta en la cultura; la entiendo como parte integral de nuestro acervo cultural, de hecho ha terminado por convertirse en una de sus vertientes más dinámicas e importantes. El objeto de estudio de la ciencia: la naturaleza, es fascinante, y el éxito de la ciencia ha sido rotundo. Ahora entendemos y predecimos de manera cuantitativa la rea- lidad como nunca antes.

Doctor en Física por la Universidad de Texas. Actualmente es profesor de física en la Universidad de Maryland en College Park, Maryland, Estados Unidos.
